Against the Grain is the first one I bought, brand new with that new album smell that kids nowadays will never experience.Worked for me.
Miised some of the juvenavia, but there is some stuff on the early Taste LPs that is just magnificent. |

Actually Jimi was asked by Dicjk Cavet "How does it feel to be the greatest electric guitar plater?"
Jimi responded, "You have to ask Roy Buchanan" |

@trevorjbass That pretty much sums it up, except I'd favour 'Rory Gallagher' over 'Blueprint', but they're all good. |

one time a journalist asked Jimi Hendrix. What is the feeling to be the greatest guitarist in whole world? and Jimi answered: Ask Rory Gallagher. |

Rory Gallagher was an absolutely stunning live performer. So you can't beat the two early live albums that he released: Live In Europe, 1972, and Irish Tour '74, originally a vinyl double, 1974. The latter is slightly the better, if only because of its longer playing time.
After you've got those two I'd go for Blueprint and Tattoo, both 1973, and then his eponymous debut and Deuce. His later work tended to lose the blues in favour of a rockier feel.
Hope this helps. |

I've just been getting into Rory recently in the past several months, and I'm starting to think Rory is the greatest all around rock/blues performer of all time. |

no, have no idea.
You know he had a liver transplant and all that? He was an interesting guy.
Apparently he kept to himself quite a bit, was introspective and dissatisfied.
There's a good article on Wiki |

saw him in 1980 in new zealand.
Actually, his strat has the finish worn off because he had a rare blood type, and, his sweat contained acid that ate into the finish |

This is a really magic performance which captures all that Rory and his band were about. Let's at least enjoy that we can relive some times when they were with us. |
